In-depth interviews
One-to-one conversations about real experiences. For example: how did a traveler choose a hotel, and what made them hesitate? Useful for understanding individual reasons and context.
Real conversations. Real contexts. Better questions. We help international teams explore the experiences and meanings behind life, culture and markets in Korea.
From a complete study to one part of your project, we shape research around the decision you need to make. We can work with your existing research design or develop a project-specific approach.
One-to-one conversations about real experiences. For example: how did a traveler choose a hotel, and what made them hesitate? Useful for understanding individual reasons and context.
A guided conversation among a small group. For example: participants compare two campaign concepts and discuss the reasons behind their reactions.
Hear from Korean practitioners through individual interviews. For complex questions, a Delphi study collects expert views over multiple rounds with anonymized feedback to examine agreement and differences.
Visit a store, event or program and record what happens in context. For example: observe how visitors find information and navigate an exhibition, subject to access permissions.
Show an early idea, message or service to participants and observe how they understand it. Small qualitative tests inform improvements; they do not predict market-wide demand.
Optional interview and fieldwork video, designed to help teams see and hear the context behind findings, subject to permissions and consent.

Our Korea Insight Loop brings together human-centered research, cultural interpretation and practical experimentation. Each project is tailored to the question; not every project requires every stage.
Together, we clarify what you need to decide, who can help answer it and which assumptions need exploring. Output: a research brief.
We conduct interviews, group discussions or field visits to hear experiences and observe relevant behaviours. Output: documented fieldwork.
We connect observations and participant stories, examine differences and consider alternative interpretations. Output: evidence-based themes.
If useful, we show participants an early concept or experience and examine how they understand it. Output: feedback and open questions.
We distinguish what we observed from our interpretation and discuss practical next steps. Output: report and client briefing.
Before testing a solution, we listen to what people are trying to accomplish, how they make decisions, what they expect and the concerns or personal rules that shape their choices. We look for different ways people approach the same goal, rather than assuming one experience fits everyone.
When the project calls for it, we map these patterns against an existing service or proposed experience. This helps identify where it supports people, where it falls short and what deserves further investigation. The map is grounded in participant accounts; interpretations and gaps remain research findings to test, not claims about every person.
Example: Before asking travelers which hotel package they prefer, we explore how they plan an unfamiliar trip, make trade-offs and seek reassurance. We can then compare those needs with the information and support a hotel offers.
A hotel wants to understand Korean travelers. We clarify its decision, interview relevant travelers, explore how they review two package ideas, and explain the motivations, concerns and unanswered questions behind their reactions.
Illustrative research design; not a completed client study. Stages and deliverables are agreed for each project.
We treat cultural interpretations as hypotheses to explore, not fixed descriptions of all Korean people. Small qualitative studies reveal context and generate questions; they do not estimate population-wide preferences.
Our work draws on experience and relationships across cultural content, sports, youth education, design and local communities. Research teams and participants are assembled according to each project.
Storytelling, creative communication, communities and how ideas are understood in a Korean context.
Fashion, beauty, design, products and the experiences that shape people’s choices.
Places, hospitality and the ways people discover and experience destinations.
Programs, participants and the people who bring sport, learning and communities together.
These examples illustrate possible research designs, not completed client projects.
Interviews, travel-planning observation and concept testing can reveal expectations, concerns and questions for further research.
Individual interviews and group discussions can explore product meanings, first impressions and points of hesitation.
Practitioner interviews and permitted field visits can illuminate how a program is experienced and operated.
Selected research and planning projects from founder Sunghwan You’s prior professional experience. These examples reflect participation in previous work, rather than research commissioned to O2VERSE. Scope and individual contributions differ by project.
Participation in work related to the development of a cultural content industry promotion plan for Jeju. A regional context for considering how culture, industry and local priorities connect.
Participation in cultural city planning work in Cheongju, bringing a regional and cultural perspective to questions about place, planning and communities.
Experience related to a study on approaches to developing new traditional culture, connecting cultural heritage and contemporary policy questions.
Founder-led research and planning materials exploring tourism strategy and community development in Vanuatu. This includes research preparation and analysis, and is presented as prior work rather than a commissioned O2VERSE client study.
Project descriptions summarize the founder’s previous experience. Detailed responsibilities, research methods and deliverables can be discussed and confirmed where relevant to a client’s project.
People, culture and lived experience are at the heart of our work.
